Susie DeFord

Susie DeFord studied poetry at Florida State University, and received her MFA from the New School University. Her work has appeared in BOMB, Poets and Artists, MipoesiasWork Zine, Dog Fancy, Shampoo, the Anthology "Dogs Singing," amongst others. 

She has taught writing at Brooklyn Friends School, Berkeley Carroll, and the College of New Rochelle. Also a musician, in 2012 she started NEON GRLZ a collaborative musical experiment. Back in the day she played in the bands Terset and Wu WeiShe writes the blog Dog Poet Laureate.

She teaches at The Kingston Writers Studio in Kingston, NY. 

She is currently working on a short film about 87 year old Cuban American Artist Sita Gomez

Susie is a CPDT-KA dog trainer who lives in Catskill, NY where she runs Susie’s Pet Care, a dog boarding & training business. She is also a Licensed Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Village Green Realty in Kingston, NY. 

Her first book of poems, The Dogs of Brooklyn, is available now! 

She is currently hard at work on a new poetry collection about Mental Health and Nature.
